The lawyer Farid Bouras of the Elden law firm arrived today in the Somaliland capital Hargeisa. He was immediately informed that a Norwegian client – sentenced to death Saad Jirde Hayd – had been rushed from prison to a local hospital.
Heart failure and high blood pressure
– I have been informed that the lack of medication has resulted in heart problems, kidney failure and skyrocketing blood pressure, says lawyer Bouras by phone from Hargeisa.

Bullets on the body
– The doctor also claims that Saad Jirde Hayd received small bullets on the body. The condition is described as critical, Bouras told Dagbladet.
Elden’s lawyer was in Somaliland last month when the prosecution in the country’s Supreme Court was suddenly postponed.
“I am now back in Somaliland, having received assurances from the country’s supreme court that the murder sentence against Saad Jirde Hayd should be reviewed,” says Bouras.
Sentence of death
The 55-year-old Norwegian citizen has been imprisoned in Somaliland since April 4 last year. Documents from the local district court and the appellate court show that the murder weapon is a so-called defense spray, bought at a Clas Ohlson store in Oslo.
In Norway, the spray is considered safe.
Saad Jirde was sentenced to death twice by gunshot.
Lawyer Farid Bouras will try to visit the Norwegian sentenced to death at the hospital in Hargeisa as soon as possible.

Difficult conditions
Since being arrested and accused of killing a man in Hargeisa, Saad Jirde Hayd has been locked up in the Norwegian-funded pirate prison in Somaliland. He shares a cell with the Islamic pirates and terrorists of Al-Shabaab.
